The Plantplot that Charge your Smartphone

With this article I would like to start the first Energy Close-up Engineering column which will be called #StartUp4Energy! In this section, from now on, I will write about technologies which are interesting from the economical and technical point of view. And everyone can invest in it. Most of the products I will suggest come from CrowdFunding websites and we can donate or pre-order the technology, joining the team of worthy Start Up from all over the world.

Gardening lovers and not. Do you have a lot of plants in your apartment? Do you just have one? Did you ever think to put in charge your smartphone or tablet at one of your plants instead of your wall socket? If you are thinking about it right now, well, it’s too late. Not just because a Spanish technical young team thought it before us, but expecially because they already developed it and they are about to produce it in series. Here it is another of the lucky stories Made in Indiegogo!

On the BIOO Lite website it’s written “For our technology we were initially inspired by several studies executed by NASA. The magic happens inside the plant pot, where energy created by the plant´s biological elements expelled after photosynthesis is transferred for our use in form of electricity for your smartphone. This matter is produced with or without Bioo, it is simply part of the essential process of photosynthesis in which every plant has to take part to live. The process inludes a chemical and biological hybrid cell. This combination is vital to stabilize the system. Furthermore, our system is self-regenerating. This means that it will keep itself working without any further external treatments. The system is able to take the energy produced in the soil surrounding the roots of the plant and transfer it as electricity using its leading and efficient process. Bioo is equiped with its own sealed water tank, creating a high efficiency in water management by retaining what is added to the plant, both by the automatic irrigation system included or any other external sources of water, such as rain.

In the meantime the invention Made in Spain reached by FIVE times the goal they wrote on the crowdfunding website, more than 75 thousands Euros instead of 15 thousands, and they still have more than two weeks to do better than that. Anyone could partecipate at the pre-sale step by CLICKING HERE and donating as much as we want. For the purchase of the BIOO product we have to spend at least 99 euros (Base version, white colour) and more if we woul like more productes or different colours. If we pay now we could have the BIOO pot plant starting from December 2016.
